The goals of philosophical counseling, framed by conceptual models such as "the quest for wisdom," "self-transformation," and "self-understanding," have been derived by scholars like Lahav. The present study aims to deepen and expand these models based on Sadri's theory. "Action"—as the core constituent of lived experience—serves as a pivotal foundation for analyzing these models and constitutes a primary pathway for the counselor to enter the client's world. This study employs an analytical and critical approach to explore the potential of Sadri’s action theory in re-evaluating the objectives of philosophical counseling. To this end, we examined Sadra’s theory regarding the nature and delineation of action models, thereby formulating concepts such as "equilibrium," "the flourishing of talents through the strengthening of practical reason," and the idea of "analysis, resolution, and endurance." Furthermore, we found that when Lahav’s conceptual models are analyzed in the context of discovering objective, immaterial truths, these innovative concepts guide clients—in harmony with the unfolding of existence—toward a more enduring state of tranquility. Among the Persian and non-Persian works published in the field of philosophical counseling, the present work is the first to re-examine Lahav’s theory regarding the goals of philosophical counseling by drawing upon the potentials of Sadri's action theory.
